Raspberry Pi playing a 1080p video

In this short clip, I use my Raspberry Pi board to play a 1080p video – Big Buck Bunny. The playback is flawless with no interruptions. The commands used were:

sudo /opt/vc/bin/vcfiled
sudo /opt/vc/bin/ilplayer /home/pi/big_buck_bunny_1080p_h264_ac3.mkv

Big Buck Bunny is a short animated film by the Blender Foundation – (c) copyright 2008, Blender Foundation / www.bigbuckbunny.org.

  1. Very cool indeed, good to see people like you leading the way with Raspberry Pi and sharing the knowledge.

Nice choice of video too, must of see it over a 100 times and still love it (it was a test video for a project i worked on)

  2. I get the same excellent picture playing the video on my Ras-pi, but I don’t get any sound. It would appear in your video that you don’t either. Have you tried playing the ‘Silence’ audio file? It won’t play on mine (and so is living up to its name!)
