Google launches UK satellite maps
Just a few months after Google launched satellite maps of the US, now they have followed up with the same for the UK… Google Maps – london eye. Although presently they seem to have been taken from a slightly odd angle, and the quality is quite low, at least it is a start!

Since the BBC have opened up their news content recently, I’ve been working on an archive of all their past articles. It only started running properly in May 2005, but from then onwards you can now browse the news on a daily basis in my bbc news archive.

I was searching for ages to try to find the place names and longitude and lattitudes of all the population centres on the planet and in the end the U.S. miltary helped me out. They offer for free download on their NGA: GNS; GEOnet Names Server place name files for most countries, in total a 200 meg download. Thanks very much!
